Every year, we conduct fire safety training at our factory together with the local fire department.
To be honest, at first, I sometimes wonder whether this level of evacuation training is really necessary for a factory of our size. Daily production work is already busy, and stopping the lines for training can feel difficult during normal operations.
However, once the fire truck arrives and the training actually begins, the atmosphere changes.
Seeing real flames in front of us reminds everyone that fire accidents are not something distant. Watching workers practice using fire extinguishers and reviewing evacuation procedures always makes the risk feel more real again.
Of course, the purpose of this kind of training is to prepare for emergencies. It is important to understand how to respond quickly and calmly if a fire actually happens.
During the training, workers also review basic safety procedures such as evacuation routes, emergency gathering points, and how to use different types of extinguishers correctly. Even simple actions can become difficult if people panic, which is why repeating the practice every year still has value.
But every year, I also feel that the most important part may be something simpler.
It is the reminder that preventing a fire is always more important than responding to one.
In garment factories, many small things are part of daily operations: electrical equipment, ironing work, fabric materials, packaging, and machines running continuously throughout the day. Because these things are so familiar, it can sometimes become easy to stop thinking about the risks around them.
That is why these annual trainings still matter.
Even if the training happens only once a year, it helps remind us that fire risks are always part of daily factory operations.
